Texas VegFest is hosting its first fundraising event! 

 

We’ll see YOU at our Chili Cook-Off and Mini Market at the Springdale Food Park on Sunday December 7th. 

Help select the best chili, all while helping our team raise money for Texas VegFest! 

We’re looking for sponsors, contestants, vendors, volunteers, musicians, workshops, activities, tasters, and donors for this special event.

All proceeds made through the fundraiser will go towards 2026 event expenses. Our goal is to help cover some of our event expenses so that Texas VegFest can remain a FREE public education event for years to come!

  • $55 Fee (to cover food permit/booth responsibility form – must abide by all A/TC/TX health rules)

Want to help support our fundraiser but cannot attend the event? Donate an item $25 or more to our raffle! 

 

All proceeds from the raffle will go towards covering some of the expenses for Texas VegFest 2026, and to help ensure that Texas VegFest stays a free public education event. 

 

Complete the RAFFLE portion on our participation form. Enter the item you would like to donate and how you’d like us to pick-up the item before the event. Please send us any images, logos, or wording you’d like us to use in our promotions before and during the event.

Play on Our Music Stage

We have 45 minute slots available on our main stage for musicians looking to donate their music for our fundraiser! 

 

We’ll have table space available to musicians to sell merchandise (merchandise sales go directly to musicians). Banner space on the venue fence and logo on our shirt and promotions provided. 

 

Slots are available on the hour beginning at 11am and ending at 4pm.

Five total 45-minute slots available for musicians.

Stage sound equipment, ramp, and stage provided.

We need volunteer power to help make our fundraiser a success! There are four 4-hour shifts available between 6am and 10pm the day of the event. We’re looking for 40 dedicated volunteers for the day of the event. Be a part of our volunteer family while creating an amazing fundraiser!

Chili Taster Ticket

Tier 1: $25 Donation

Be an official Texas VegFest Chili-Cook-Off Taster! 

Donate $25 or more now through September 30th and receive one tasting ticket for Sunday December 7th. Tasting tickets are good for one individual vote in the contest, and one 2oz sample from each of the 10 chili contestants.  

Tasting begins at 12pm. 

Tasting tickets must be turned in by 3pm to count in the judging.

Raffle Ticket 

While you’re tasting chili, donate to enter our raffle! Receive a raffle ticket for a $15 donation to our fundraiser. 

Winners will be announced at the event at 4pm.

Fundraiser T-Shirt

Take the cook-off home with you with our special printed shirts with all of the participants who helped make the event great! Sizes XS-XXXL soft, cotton t-shirts available.

Event Details

  • Mini Market free to enter. 
  • Chili Tasting Tickets available online before the event, and a limited amount will be available at the door the day of the event. 
  • Springdale Food Park is a great space but space is limited. 
  • Event capacity at one time is 150. 
  • 10×10 Vendor Space is limited to 20 spaces, including contestants.
  • Please limit your pets. As this venue is much smaller than FIesta Gardens, we are anticipating the venue to be crowded. Please use extreme caution to prevent any discomfort for your pet while at the event due to the small, loud, and crowded space. 
  • This is an alcohol free event. 
  • There may be a line at the entry. We are close to the railroad tracks so be aware of crossing.

All Contestants

  • Professional Contestants are those who have their own business with multiple employees

  • Special award calculated after the event from a percent of the ticket sales placed into a pool for contestants to split.

 

Contest Rules 

  1. All chili must be cooked on site using basic raw ingredients (no premixes or preseasoned items)
  2. All contestants must label ingredients and any food allergens contained in their chili (nuts, gluten, soy, etc.)
  3. 1 submission of a single type of chili per contestant 
  4. Reserve 5 servings for judges, 10 for other contestants, and 45 for volunteers/vip 
  5. Chili submissions and all items being sold at booth MUST be 100 vegan – no exceptions
  6. All balances must be paid before check-in
  7. Confirmation to participate only after payment, agreement, and permit submitted
  8. Must accept cash and cards at your booth
  9. Must stay in designated space
  10. Use compostable cups provided at check-in
  11. Must display food permit in prominent location in booth
  12. Food Permit provided at check-in
  13. Must follow the A/TC/TX food booth set-up guide and check list 
  14. Must have fire extinguishes, handwashing station, dish sanitization station, ground cover, waste and wastewater bins
  15. Set up between 7am and 10am (Gates close at 10am)
  16. Load in ONLY at designated vendor load-in space, NO Parking in vendor load-in space
  17. Be ready for booth inspection at 10.30am

Judging

Judging is conducted by a panel of judges, chili tasters, and volunteers. Judges taste at 1pm. Chili Tasters begin tasting at 12pm. All tickets must be turned in by 3pm to count for judging. Winners announced at 4pm.

Categories for judging are Best Tasting, Spiciest, Best Vegan Protein, Best Bean, Best Budget, and Most Local (contestants must send ingredient receipts for Best Budget and Most Local). 

Judges are testing for color, aroma, consistency, taste, and aftertaste.  

Chili to account for all guest judges, chili tasters, and volunteers.

About Texas VegFest & Texas Veg Foundation

Texas VegFest is our main event occurring at Fiesta Gardens each April in Austin, Texas. Fundraising Purpose & Goal

Expenses average around $50,000 annually for Texas VegFest. Event expenses include venue cost, permits, tents, tables, chairs, printing, advertising, administrative, logistics, activities, and more.  We use participation sign-up fees, swag bags, and public donations to help cover expenses. 

The purpose of our fundraiser is to raise money for Texas VegFest, and to make sure that Texas VegFest stays a FREE public event for years to come.
Our fundraising goal is $7,500. Help us surpass this goal by donating, competing, sponsoring, participating, volunteering, sharing, or attending our fundraiser!

8. Why is a fundraiser being hosted?

The purpose of our fundraiser is to raise money for Texas VegFest and to make sure that Texas VegFest stays a FREE public event for years to come.

9. Why a Chili Cook-Off?

Outside of the owner of Springdale Food Park really wanting a Chill Cook-Off, we thought that the cook-off would be a great way to get everyone together for a fun and exciting event while trying to make money for Texas VegFest. The Chili Cook-Off is also a great way to honor the vegan/plant-based organizers that came before us, who hosted a vegan Chili Cook-Off for 25 years… in the state of TEXAS.                          

10. Will this be a recurring event?

We look to have a successful fundraiser this year and look to host another one again in 2026. We’re focusing our efforts for a successful Texas VegFest 2026 January – April, and hope to know more about additional fundraisers/events in June of 2026. 

We have a recurring volunteer workday on the second Saturday of each month between 9am and 1pm. It’s a great way to get involved with local sanctuaries and nonprofits, and work with our volunteer team in the off-planning season.
